This building has two levels, one of which is a 700 person Worship Hall. The lower lever is reserved for classrooms and a mechanical room. This facility houses all deities under one roof whereas most are for a single deity. That makes this building not only rare in the Hindu Religion, but in it’s energy efficient design for religious structures.

This block masonry structure is one of the first religious buildings in the U.S.that was certified under the U.S. Green Building Council’s environmental program. This building was designed to use 30% less energy than a normal building of similar type; making this building Green and modern while still maintaining an eighth-century motif.

Neil Bhatt, one of the project’s architects, said that the energy efficient designs of the building relate to Hindu philosophy in that they “worship the Mother Earth just as we worship other deities.”

This facility contains two 365 ton water cooled turbine chillers, 15 roof top air handling units, three 2 million BTU boilers controlled by a packaged pumping system. The HVAC facilities efficiency is optimized by using fresh air economizers on the facilities air handling units.

This building is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) gold certified with the U.S. Green Building Council. One of the buildings distinguished LEED features is a 50,000 gallon rain water collection system that uses reclaimed rain water as flush water for the facilities toilets and urinals.
